Presbyterian Hospital Accredited by the American College of Surgeon’s Commission on Cancer

January 17, 2017

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – In recognition of its consistent performance in providing quality care to cancer patients, Presbyterian Hospital* was recently accredited for three more years by the American College of Surgeons' Commission on Cancer.

"Presbyterian is committed to delivering comprehensive, compassionate cancer care," said Bernard Agbemadzo, MD, medical director, Presbyterian Cancer Care. "We are thrilled to have our accreditation extended for three more years and to have received an Outstanding Achievement Award commendation. This achievement demonstrates our sustained performance in providing high-quality cancer care and commitment to improved outcomes for patients."

Accreditation by the Commission on Cancer (CoC) demonstrates a cancer program's commitment to providing high-quality, multidisciplinary, patient-centered cancer care. To be accredited, Presbyterian had to complete a rigorous site visit and meet specific standards as outlined by the CoC. This accreditation is nationally recognized by organizations, including the National Cancer Institute, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, National Quality Forum, American Cancer Society and The Joint Commission, as having established data-driven performance measures for the provision of quality cancer care.

* The accreditation uses 2016 data for inpatient and outpatient cancer care provided at Presbyterian facilities by employed and independent physicians in Albuquerque and Rio Rancho. Combined data from these facilities were submitted under the umbrella of Presbyterian Hospital.
