Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Reunion Picnic

August 1, 2014

WHAT: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Reunion Picnic

WHO: Presbyterian is hosting its annual reunion picnic for children who have “graduated” from the Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) at Presbyterian Hospital or Rust Medical Center. At the picnic, children and their families will reunite with the team of doctors and nurses who cared for them in the hospital. Games and refreshments will be provided.

WHERE: Mission Field (next to Hoffmantown Church)
8888 Harper Dr. NE
Albuquerque, NM 87111

WHEN: Saturday, August 2 from 12:00 p.m.  – 1:00 p.m.

DETAILS: This year, 16-month-old twins who were NICU patients at Presbyterian Hospital, and their mother, a NICU nurse at Presbyterian Hospital, will be available to share their experience.

Nearly 1,500 babies spent time in the NICU at Presbyterian Hospital or Rust Medical Center in 2013. Many NICU babies spend a significant amount of time in the hospital and families often form strong relationships with their care team. About 50 children and their families are expected to attend the reunion. The event is free and open to babies who received care at the Presbyterian Hospital and Rust Medical Center NICUs and their families.

Presbyterian Hospital has a Level III NICU with 43 staffed beds. Rust Medical Center’s NICU is a Level II with 11 staffed beds. Both units are staffed with 24/7 board certified neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners, registered nurses, lactation consultants and respiratory therapists dedicated to caring for our smallest patients.
